Exposed and Open Ceiling Cleaning

Exposed ceiling cleaning removes dust, cobwebs and grease from everything in an open ceiling: the deck, joists, ducts, pipes, conduit, sprinkler lines and fixtures. It is the most complete form of above-eye-level cleaning. AELC providers work top-down with HEPA source capture, from the floor wherever practical.

Why it matters

Open ceilings are often painted black or dark gray, which hides dust from directly below but shows it in sunlight and from angled views.

More on why it matters

When the HVAC cycles on or doors open, settled dust can drift down onto tables and merchandise.

Many inspectors and food-safety programs expect overhead structures above food areas to be kept clean.

Who needs it most

Exposed and Open Ceiling Cleaning: FAQ

How do you clean a black exposed ceiling?

With HEPA source-capture vacuums on high-reach poles, working from the top down, then damp-wiping smooth surfaces. Dust is captured rather than blown into the room.

Will cleaning damage spray-on fireproofing?

Spray-applied fireproofing and similar friable materials are not cleaned. Providers identify them and work around them.

What affects the cost of exposed ceiling cleaning?

Floor area, ceiling height, the amount of ductwork and structure overhead, grease or dust load, and whether a lift is needed. Your local AELC provider sets the price after reviewing your space.
